Genital Jiggling

Genital Jiggling is punk/hardcore band from Rouen formed in 2011. Their album has punk rock sound with 90s hardcore and fastcotre influences. From first to last song sound takes in drive and get involved in this atmosphere. I really don't know on what bands oriented sound but the way they do music is very good! Fans of french 00s tharshcore/hardcore must check it!

Seila Chiara

5-piece band from Lyon. According to their web-site: J-B. Alamy playing bass, Rafik El Alami playing guitar and other stuff, Rémi Komornicki singing and playing some guitar, Stan Marques playing guitar and singing once in a while, and Nicolas Sok playing drums.
Awesome screamo/post-rock/indie, with great jazz influences and experiments (in "Stories Like Ants in New York" i've find raggae riff, for example). Got 3 releases and were published on "Tokyo Jupiter compilation".
As foк me - it's one of the best bands i've heard during 3 last years. There are not so many reasons for me not to run around with banner like "get post-rock away from screamo", and Seila Chiara is on of this reasons.
Musthear for jazzophiliacs.

Bien À Toi - Diriger, Séduire, Convaincre (2012)

Bien À Toi is post-rock/screamo band from Paris, formed in 2011. This october they released their first EP. Instrumental part on EP is great, and voice I didn't like so much. But as for me it's good start for band.

Nord - S/T (2012) says that there is 7 bands called Nord, so here is 1 of them. Sometimes sensitive, sometimes dark, screamo/post-hc.
About the band - four guys from Chambéry, exists from 2010 to 2011. During this time they've self-released only one 6-tracks S/T longplay.
As for me - musthear for fans of Aussitot Mort and Daitro, also for DIY-lovers.
You can download LP from their bandcamp, it's free.

Cathedraal - Split w/ Rings of Rhea & Schematics for Gravity (2012)

Matthieu - Vocals;
Sébastien - Guitar;
Pierre - Guitar & Piano & Organ;
Eric - Bass;
Oderic - Drums.

Cathedraal is screamo group from Paris with some members of ex-Madame De Montespan. In spring this year they released first album "Voix Blanches" and now they release split with ukrainian post-metal band Rings of Rhea and sweden Schematics for Gravity.
Cathedraal have 3 songs on this split, and every is masterpiece, vocal and sound is really better then on album. Album have own dark atmosphere and interesting, but in other way. Tracks from split reminds much good parts from MDM, Celeste and other french bands, but I don't want to say that they released pattern stuff. I hope to hear more stuff like on this split from this band.

The Solexine Chapter - Amertumes (2012)

The Solexine Chapter was formed around 2009. I followed this group long time after they posted first songs on myspace page and now they present this blowing kicker album with dark and somber of french 90s scene but with sound much more original! By the way they reminds me another french bands I Was a Cosmonaut Hero and I Am a Curse . For me it's the most unexpected and strong release in french post-hardcore scene this year. I like that it's not another post-hardcore/screamo release, this release is full of dark, expressive, every song keep you to the end.
Also they're searching now for label to release 3-way split with Cheval and I Was a Cosmonaut Hero.

Inertia Pills - Behind The Skyline (2011)

Inertia Pills formed in 2007. These guys playing screamo/post-hardcore music with prog rock influences, sometimes with metal. I really like this band 'cause they are not tipical post-hardcore band, in their songs a lot of interesting ideas that sound great, with the addition of sound that atypical to genre with its own vision of post-hardcore. On this album every song have own feelings, not similar in sound to others and I like it! This release I want call "atmosphere post-hardcore trip".
Also influences of this band "Aussitôt Mort, Tool, Mastodon, Isis, Neurosis, Oceansize, Sugartown Cabaret, Revok, (platane), Converge and more" mean that they mix their sound in much ways.

Isaïe Buried Memorial

Isaïe Buried Memorial was screamo/emo-violence band from France, but some members was from Germany. They made their last shows in 2008, by the name Memorial. They released only demo and now no any news about this band.
I remebered this band 'cause they are so close by atmosphere to I Am John Spartan but with own sound and bremen hc influences. As for me this band released one of the best emo-violence(not at all) release in France in 00s, sad that this band existed for no long time.

Tatanak - Self-Titled (2012)

Tatanak is new french band, there's only info that they recorded their EP in march this year. This EP contains 8 tracks: 7 tracks of EP and 1 track is demo version of first 7 songs. I like how they change sound from beginning to then end of EP. First track is noise hardcore - I liked this track much more on EP; second is transition noisy rocking track and then tracks going in crust grind way with much influences of powerviolence. There's only sad that it's too short.

No Hay Deaz

No Hay Deaz was band from Lille, formed in 2002. Their style is changing between post-rock, noise, hardcore, math rock, free jazz and screamo. Their drummer previously played in Submerge and now two guys from NHD play in duo noise-math rock band Ed Wood Jr. No Hay Deaz released also 2 mcd in 2003 and 2004, but I have only their LP 2007's.

You Will Never Appear On TV With Such A Face

You Will Never Appear On TV With Such A Face was indie rock band, found in 2006. On drums and guitar play members of 90s legend - Ivich, so I think many people will be interested in this. Despite the low sound and much indie-rock melodics this group have their interesting sound with emotive moments and sweet riffs (2nd track on EP is excellent!), much reminds 90s midwest . They released EP in 2007 and LP in 2010.
If someone wants share LP with me - please message me.

Ed Warner's Cage

Ed Warner's Cage - in reference to the character's famous goalkeeper present in the manga Captain Tsubasa - is a French band composed of 5 members, found in 2001. In 2003 band record split with Rookie Rock Radio and after 3 years they make again split with them. Also band have splits with Lost Sphere Project and Le Massacre Du Client De 15 Heures. In 2008 they present their first LP "Iera Anagrafh". And after pause in some years they will release new LP "Le retour de la femme insecte" in end of 2012.
Their music is more close to screamo bands like Aghast, Gameness, but they have also influence of post-hardcore bands (Tang, Venosa ...) and a bit influence of post-rock sounding (l’Homme Puma). In their sound many expresions and changes of mood. I like very much moments in their songs like "A Travers l'Oeil de Portia" when first 30 sec they speak, then loud screaming wall of sound, then post-rock dancing and screaming ending. Structure of songs in this album reminds me "Venosa - Dancing Together under a Rain of Ashes (2009)"

You can stream their songs on bandcamp. Also follow them through website and facebook.

Cromwell O - Dance ce soir, soumet toi demain (200?)

Found them... somewhere. Only information about them - they have existed from 2002 to 2004. Also their bass-guitar guy was in a band called Leka Tchipa (90's) and Anomie.
Good french screamo/violence.

Direwolves - Me From Myself, To Banish (2012)

It's done, after their 2-tracks demo I liked them much nad waited for any new. And now they released 6-tracks EP through Throatruiner records. Fans of agressive hardcore punk must like it. Also they are good in mixing of some styles, despite the ambiguity of it - they make very interesting sound! In fact that I can't stop to listen it for long time I think that it will be one of the best release in 2012 on french hardcore scene.

You cand order EP and merch through their  facebook  and stream on bandcamp

Mörse - Self-titled (2012)

The finally made their 3 songs EP. I wrote about this band below in blog so I just want to say some words about release. I like their influences and like what they do. They sound like Trap Them but material of this band is more interest for me than similars, also their sound reminds me Birds in Row. This band could be great opening in this year for everybody.
I hope that it's not last release and they will not split up like my favorites I am John Spartan or Chaos Is...
Also I want say that this sound is so quality, good studio work!

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Mörse is young group from Lille, formed in 2011. I followed this group from time, when they recorded 1st song Détérioration du lang, they impressed me with this punk hardcore sound and screaming vocal and little bit of neocrust, one of the best band in France now with this way of sound. I don't know what band influenced them, but they have individual sound and I want to listen it again and again. At now they have recorded 3 songs and i hope to hear new material by them, 'cause it really nice sounds! especially check Sous Terre <3.
You can listen them on bancamp  and follow on tumblr and facebook.

Mörse - demo (2011)
Mörse - ST (2012)

At first seconds of listening I thought that it's boring post-rock, but then I've heard pack of post-hardcore, great post-rock melodic. It's hard to say similars, more then others they remind me Kokomo and Totorro,  but Ld.Kharst has their own dancing and sad atmosphere.
That's first release of this group, so I hope they'll give us more new sounds and experiments.

Sugartown Cabaret - Split (2012)

It's new EP of another great french screamo band Sugartown Cabaret, from Caen.
On  The Lodger they changed their sound more to post-hardcore including punk hardcore, and  Two days only  is in veins of their old screamo/post-hc sound, like on song from split w/ L'Homme Puma - Red.
And yes, Two days only is awesome track!
You cand order this EP through Destructure and listen on their bandcamp

Geraniüm - LP (2012)

Geraniüm released this album in febrary, it contains 4 new tracks and tracks from tour cd-r 2010. As for me it  is awesome work, I like these guys for everything they're doing (this band and all side pojects). Album has their neocrust and fast punk sound with good traditions. Among all active crust punk bands in France I like more than all these guys and Exhaustion.
I put this release also to the main post of Geraniüm in my blog.

Check their blog and bandcamp for listen and order album.

Tang - Dynamite Drug Diamond (2012)

After long time of rest, this group released their new LP "Dynamite Drug Diamond". Despite the fact that six years passed, Tang present pack of awesome atmospheric emo \ hardcore stuff. I think that fans of Tang will not be dissapointed after this release, they still have their drive and intense.
But yes, they still don't sing in french :/
You can order their new album through website. Also, you can find there their lyrics.

I was a Cosmonaut Hero

Band was formed in 2009, Besançon. This band has much good music influences, like Brume Retina, Kazan, Revok. I found this band through facebook, it's good opening for me. This is their debut EP. I like that France still have bands with "this" sound! Fans of "Daitro's guitars" and french raw screamo vocal need to check it. For fans of Kazan, Filigram, edomah. Band's news and other info You can find on their website and facebook page.

Aussitôt Mort - NAGYKANIZSA (2012)

This winter 2012 Aussitôt Mort made tour in Russia, it's sad I'm not from there (for this winter). And Aussitôt Mort made release for this date, this album have 2 tracks from split w/ Heaven In Her Arms, 2 tracks from their EP "La ride du lion" and one new track La Bourse Ou La Vie.
They made very interesting release, I like how they experiment with all their works, no one release is similar to past. I want to say that instrumental part is best on this album, so I like it so much. Also this sound on album reminds me another french band Ancre.

Another great french screamo/post-hardcore band, have a nice LP and split with french chaotic hardcore band - Nesseria. I don't know any special similars but it's vocal and good sound has their specific atmosphere. Some members now play in Sutter Cane
From their myspace:"Mixing melodic rock and hardcore, Venosa is looking for retranscribe an emotionnal violence tinted by hate, love, passion, pain, by everything that pushes the human being to extirpate all the good and the unhealthy inside himself for making a sonority, an art."
As for me, 2007's release is their best work.

It was diy punk band with Gerome Desmaison on vocal, strange mix of punk, screamo and fastcore. It's really need to hear.

Saturday, January 14, 2012

There's nothing known about this band, only known that one of band member is Grégory Pyvka (Init, Petit Printemps, Loisirs, Jaïlma, Fireball, Friendly Fire, Creuvurs). This is one release with bad quality, but good atmosphere of 90's french scene.

On their demo you can hear influences of USA midwest emo scene and post-hardcore.
There're some info about band on (english) and here (french). Website of this band don't work at all now.
